Journaling for a Better Business
August 3, 2009
I’ve set out on a journey of what the experts would call “Realization through Visualization”. Every morning I have started writing in a journal and then every night I write in it again to recap the positives about the day. This is not a new concept but it is one that I shirked for some time. It seemed impossible really the whole “Dream It & It Will Be” and of course “The Secret”, yawn! It can’t be that easy because if it was we would never have to worry about poverty or our car breaking down because we would all be rich and drive Mustang convertibles. But something changed when I read a great book called Carve Your Own Road by Jennifer & Joe Remling. Once I read this book my whole perspective has changed about the power of visualization.
Books on the power of visualization have been around since as early as the 1800’s. Authors like Genevieve Behrend and Napoleon Hill are well known authors that start the “Law of Attraction” movement and one book by Charles Haanel called The Master Key System that was published over 80 years ago is said to have inspired Bill Gates and is used by top entrepreneurs still today. If you are interested in reading these books you can find them for free PDF download when you sign up for my client Kendra Brodin’s newsletter at www.BecomeARealSuccess.com.
I think that the reason why journaling works so well is because when you set down and write out your dreams and goals they seem possible and almost like a promise because instead of saying “I want” or “I may” I say “I WILL”. Then in the evening I write the positive’s that happened, never the negative. Since beginning my journal a month ago I have to admit that things have changed for me. I brought on three new clients and opened the door to a potential relationship with a local client which has never happened in the 2 years that I have had my business. I have also forged ahead with an idea that I had stale mated in the back of my mind for almost a year! Now that’s progress.
So even if you haven’t started journaling or if you have dabbled in it I encourage you to start today! I’m not guaranteeing anything will happen but why not? It was one of these great writers, Napoleon Hill, who said “Ideas are the beginning points of all fortunes.”
